Please note – this tour is weather dependent

This experience is specifically designed around the evening light and sunset on the Trondheim Fjord. If the forecast shows conditions where there is little or no chance of experiencing suitable sunset weather – for example heavy rain, very poor visibility or dense cloud cover – we may choose to cancel the tour, sometimes at relatively short notice.

If Trondheim by Boat cancels the tour because of unsuitable weather conditions, you will receive a full refund of your ticket price. When possible, we may also offer you the option of moving your booking to another available evening.

Please check your email and phone on the day of your tour in case we need to contact you regarding the weather.

Dress warmly – this is an autumn experience

Our sunset cruises mainly operate as the Trondheim evenings begin to get darker again, making this very much an autumn and late-season experience.

Our traditional wooden boats are open boats, allowing you to be close to the fjord and the surrounding landscape. This also means that you are exposed to the temperature, wind and changing weather.

Even when it feels mild and comfortable in Trondheim city centre, it can feel considerably colder once we are out on the fjord, particularly after sunset.

We strongly recommend:

Warm layers, preferably wool or similar
A windproof and water-resistant outer layer
Warm trousers
Closed, sturdy footwear
Warm socks
Hat and gloves on colder evenings

Bring one layer more than you think you will need. It is much easier to remove a layer than to get warm again once we are out on the fjord.

Blankets are available onboard for extra comfort.

The sunset is part of nature

While we carefully select the season and departure times to give you the best possible opportunity to experience the evening light, nature makes the final decision. Colours, clouds and light conditions are different every evening, and no two sunset cruises are quite the same.
