Bolkesjø Gaard is a family-run farm located at the foot of the Blefjell mountains in Telemark, where tradition and hospitality have been passed down through generations. The pride of the farm is Årestua – Norway’s oldest preserved wooden house, dating back to the 1200s – a truly exceptional place. Here, a thousand years of history is combined with refined comfort: a crackling fireplace, modern bathroom and kitchen facilities, and an atmosphere only ancient timber walls can create. From here, you can enjoy views of the Telemark mountains, unwind, and create lasting memories with family, friends, or colleagues in peaceful, nature-rich surroundings.

The farm is surrounded by forests, mountains, and lakes, offering excellent opportunities for outdoor activities year-round – whether you prefer gentle walks, fishing, swimming, or simply the stillness of nature.

Bolkesjø Gaard offers several unique accommodation options: Årestua itself; a charming farm holiday at Husmannsplassen by the swimming lake Follsjø; accommodation in the Stabbur (traditional storehouse) on the farm; or a more secluded and peaceful stay at Stulen, the mountain pasture cabin deep in the forest. During summer, guests can also stay in glamping tents right by the water’s edge at Follsjø. All accommodations combine modern comfort with historic character and close proximity to nature.

In addition to accommodation, guests have access to meeting facilities and venues for smaller events, with space for up to 25 people in Årestua. There are also excellent opportunities for larger outdoor events on the property.
