Grab an experiencing Sami culture adventure with a fun reindeer camp dinner. You might be the lucky one to spot the northern lights too.
Get ready for an unforgettable nighttime adventure with Sami guides, experiencing reindeer feeding and Sami culture. Your journey starts with a pickup from Tromsø city center, followed by a scenic 25-minute seaside drive to the camp, where around 300 reindeer await your arrival.
At the camp, you’ll have the chance to feed the reindeer and practice lasso throwing (on a dummy, not a real reindeer). Afterward, enjoy a three-course dinner inside a cozy, candlelit tent. Start with cold-smoked salmon, followed by bidos, a traditional Sami stew cooked over an open fire. Vegetarian options are also available, along with warm drinks.
As night falls, gather in a lavvu (a traditional Sami tent) to hear stories about Sami culture and the life of a reindeer herder. The experience includes a joik, a traditional Sami song performed by the guide. If you're lucky and the skies are clear, you may even witness the magical northern lights from the camp, making this a truly memorable experience.
Please note that you have to carry warm clothes. Keeping two layers would be a better idea to keep yourself cozy. Gloves, a hat, and boots are also essential.
