Grab an experiencing Sami culture adventure with a fun reindeer camp dinner. You might be the lucky one to spot the northern lights too.
Be ready to embark on an incredible journey with the Sami guides for an unforgettable nighttime experience of reindeer feeding and Sami culture. You will meet the guide from Tromsö Arctic Reindeer guide at the pickup point in Tromsö city center. Your journey is all set to begin! Enjoy the scenic beauty of Norway on your 25-minute seaside drive to the camp. The reindeer will be waiting for you when you arrive at the camp.
Approximately 300 reindeers will surround you and perhaps eat out of your hands as you learn to use a lasso and feed them (but not on an actual reindeer). Inside a candlelit tent, you will enjoy a three-course dinner, with a cold-smoked salmon starter. After this comes their traditional dish, the bidos, a Sami stew cooked over the fire.
Savour your food with warm drinks. A vegetarian option is also available. As the sun sets, you'll be ushered inside a lavvu to hear tales of the Sami people and the life of a reindeer herder. The tour will also include a joik (a traditional Sami song) performed by the guide. There is a potential that you will be able to view the northern lights if you are fortunate and the sky is clear when you are standing atop the reindeer camp.
Please note that you have to carry warm clothes. Keeping two layers would be a better idea to keep yourself cozy. Gloves, a hat, and boots are also essential.
