Ever thought you’d catch a glimpse of the sun at midnight? It is possible in Norway! The ‘midnight sun’ phenomenon happens in the arctic region in summer. During this time, the sun never really sets but hovers a little lower in the sky. Experience the beauty of this natural phenomenon on board a cruise!
On the day of the Polar Adventures tour, you will be picked up from the Scandic Ishavshotel. The shuttle will leave at 10:00 pm sharp, so you need to arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes prior. The shuttle will drop you at Tromsø harbour, where you will board the cruise.
As the boat leaves the harbour, you can settle down either on the boat’s deck or in the heated indoor lounge. Keep yourself comfortable with warm drinks and delicious local snacks throughout your time onboard. Sometime during midnight, you will see beautiful streaks of yellow and orange across the fjords and watch the silhouettes of mountains and trees. At times, you will also be able to see the sun. However, there is no guarantee that you will see it. Bear in mind that you can get a suntan even at night, so slather some sunscreen during your time onboard!
Apart from the golden hues of the sun, you can even spot arctic birds like eider ducks, sea eagles, and guillemots during your cruise. The fjord ride ends by 1:00 am when the boat reaches the Tromsø harbour.
Kindly note that this tour can be possible if there are a minimum of 6 participants. To make the experience more authentic, the maximum number of participants is 25.
