Summer Snorkelling

Summers in Norway are still more relaxed than in other parts of the world, but it is also the perfect time to explore the country’s exotic underwater life. Lofoten is where you can experience this, thanks to the 3000 metres deep sea and the unique species that take over the waters during summer. Witness all this and more with Lofoten Opplevelser in their summer snorkelling activity, a fun way of exploring the mystical Norwegian waters.

At 11:00 am, participants will meet their guide for the day at the tour provider’s office in Henningsvær, where they will be given all the necessary gear for the trip. After a brief introduction about the tour, you will change to dry suits and head to the starting point of this activity. Once all participants have boarded the boat, you will embark on an enthralling journey through the skjærgård or a group of small islands. Get ready to be spellbound by the magnificence of Lofoten, its many islands and glistening waters.

Participants can begin diving into the water when the boat reaches the snorkel-friendly zone. Since the visibility during summer is 20 meters, you will stick to this depth throughout the activity. Some species you will encounter here include sea urchins, coalfish, jellyfish, mackerel, sea anemones, cods, crabs, starfish, and sea mice. 

Even though the typical sea temperature during summer ranges between 10-16 degrees, the dry suits will keep you safe. After an hour of underwater exploration, your guide will assist you back on the boat, and you will return to the starting point.

Participants are requested to wear woollen underwear, comfortable clothes, and warm socks under the dry suit. Bring an extra set of clothes to change into after the trip.
