Experience a guided cold-water immersion in Oppdal’s mountain rivers. Join a certified Wim Hof Instructor for a safe and empowering introduction to cold exposure, breathwork and nature-based practices. Suitable for all levels.
Explore the power of Oppdal’s nature with a guided cold-water immersion in one of the area’s crystal-clear mountain rivers. Led by certified Wim Hof method instructor Synne Øiamo, this experience gives you a safe and calming introduction to cold exposure and breathing techniques.
We start with a short briefing on land, where you learn simple breathing techniques, and how to prepare your body and mind for the cold. Then we walk together to a carefully chosen river spot, selected for both safety and a beautiful nature setting.
You will receive clear guidance on how to enter the water safely, practical tips for handling the cold, and full support throughout the entire dip. Synne stays close by your side, ensuring you feel safe, calm, and well taken care of.
After the immersion, you will be guided through gentle warm-up techniques to help your body recover naturally.
This activity is open to all levels — no previous experience required. A unique opportunity to feel grounded, energized, and connected to Oppdal’s mountain landscape. A pure and unforgettable experience in the heart of nature, offering both presence and a strong sense of accomplishment.
Minimum age: 16 years old. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Suitable for most people with normal mobility. Must be able to walk to the river and enter/exit the water safely.
Not recommended for people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, epilepsy, Raynaud’s syndrome, cold urticaria, pregnancy, uncontrolled medical conditions, or any health issues where sudden cold exposure may be unsafe.

Why Proper Clothing Matters:
Wearing the right clothing before and after cold-water immersion is essential for safety, comfort, and a positive experience. Your body cools down quickly in cold water, so it’s important to use materials that keep you warm even when damp — like wool. Wool helps regulate temperature, stays warm when wet, and supports your body’s natural recovery after the dip.
Thick wool socks, a warm sweater, a hat, and an insulating outer layer make a big difference once you step out of the water. Avoid cotton — it gets cold when wet and increases heat loss.
It’s also important to avoid clothing that is too tight. When your skin is damp and your hands are colder than usual, tight clothes can be difficult to put back on. Loose, comfortable layers make dressing much easier and help your body warm up faster.
Please remember that temperatures in Oppdal can drop to –25°C in winter.
Proper clothing is not just recommended — it is essential for your safety, warmth, and overall experience.
