Visit Brekkeparken in Skien – join guided tours and explore exhibitions at the museum. The exhibition “Alt dette er ditt” (All This Is Yours) showcases objects from across Telemark, from rose-painted bowls to a 1960s slot machine. These are your stories – and those of your children and grandchildren. Welcome to a day filled with discoveries!
Begin your visit with the main exhibition, “Alt dette er ditt”, where objects from Telemark tell stories about daily life, craftsmanship, and social changes. You’ll find everything from old photos and documents to everyday items that spark unexpected curiosity. Both children and adults are drawn in, especially by the “secret room” where drawers and cabinets are meant to be explored.
The museum offers several rooms filled with objects that reveal new perspectives and memories. Families with children can also enjoy the “Karsten and Petra World”, located on the same floor, offering space for play and reading. On Saturdays, special children’s activities are available – such as treasure hunts with the Park Detective, child-friendly guided tours in the house of the ghost “The Grey Lady”, workshops, or other seasonal events (note: some workshops may carry a small materials fee).
Brekkeparken is a large park area located at the top of Skien city. Take your time strolling the gravel paths, viewing historical buildings, having a picnic, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The Aall Inn Café, located in the same building as the museum, offers lunch and refreshments.
Entry to the park is free; the day ticket is required for the museum and exhibitions.
