Discover Røros through the eyes of artist Harald Sohlberg. Join a guided walk and see the town as he once painted it during his stay here in the early 1900s.
This guided tour takes you through the historic mining town of Røros, following in the footsteps of one of Norway’s most important neo-romantic painters, Harald Sohlberg. Your guide, Ellen Kristine Klemmetvold from Kunst & Kaos, shares insights into the artist’s life and creative process during his time in Røros from 1902 to 1905.
Along the route, you’ll stop at key spots where Sohlberg found inspiration. One of the highlights is Sohlberg’s Square, offering a view of the row of houses known as “Sohlbergrekka”, depicted in the painting After the Snowstorm / Street in Røros. The walk ends at the cemetery behind Røros Church, overlooking the townscape captured in the painting Night.
This experience combines art history with local stories, giving you a clear understanding of how Røros influenced some of Sohlberg’s most iconic works.
