Take a guided RIB boat tour starting from Nidelv Brygge in Arendal. Discover the Southern Norwegian coast through narrow channels, island landscapes, and learn about local geology and maritime culture. Ideal for families and coastal explorers.
Your journey begins at Nidelv Restaurant, where you board a comfortable RIB and cruise down the Nidelva River towards the heart of Arendal. From there, the route heads out through Galtesund, circling the island of Merdø and continuing to the iconic Torungen Lighthouse. Along the way, you’ll get insight into the region’s coastal history while enjoying views of the sea and nearby islands.
The trip continues past Ærøya and along the protected waters of Raet National Park, an area shaped by glaciers and known for its distinctive geology. We make a brief detour to Strand Hotel and the beach near Grimstad, then enter the narrow, peaceful Hesnes Canal – a quiet waterway surrounded by small islets, with good chances to spot seabirds and seals.
The final stretch leads through Grimstad’s island archipelago and out toward the scenic Valøyene, a popular anchorage spot. The tour ends back at Nidelv Restaurant after approximately 1.5–2 hours. It’s a calm and informative ride suitable for all ages.
This is not a high-speed tour. Suitable for families, visitors, and anyone wishing to experience Southern Norway’s coastline in a relaxed setting. One boat holds up to 12 passengers; if booking for more than 12, a minimum of 16 is required for a second boat.
