Step aboard a Viking-style ship and explore the Bergen waterfront and fjord in a uniquely historic way. Departing from Bryggen, this 1.5-hour sailing trip follows the traditions of Norse seafarers, using a square sail and the wind’s direction to guide your route. Depending on the weather, expect different perspectives of the harbor and the surrounding coastline.
While onboard, your crew shares stories from the Viking Age, alongside local maritime and Bergen history. You’ll also get to see firsthand the wooden craftsmanship that echoes shipbuilding techniques from over a thousand years ago. During the summer months, mackerel fishing is possible with equipment provided onboard.
This open-deck experience offers limited shelter from the elements. Basic refreshments are available, and you're welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks, including beer or wine. Please note that boarding requires moderate mobility, and toilet facilities are compact.
Please arrive at Dreggekaien, Bergen at least 5 minutes before departure. Dress warmly in wind- and water-resistant clothing. The vessel offers limited shelter and minimal restroom facilities. Guests should use public toilets on the quay before boarding. Sailing may be canceled in adverse weather. Moderate physical mobility is required to board and move about the vessel.
