Discover Norway’s Arctic wildlife on a full-day safari by high-speed catamaran. Spot whales and seabirds in their natural habitat, cruise past dramatic fjord landscapes, and enjoy onboard comforts with expert commentary.
Join a winter wildlife safari through the fjords of Northern Norway aboard a fast, modern catamaran. Departing from Tromsø, this full-day excursion offers a chance to observe Humpback and Fin whales, Orcas, and other Arctic wildlife that gather in the region between October and January to feed on migrating herring.
As you travel toward the feeding grounds, enjoy breathtaking views of the Lyngen Alps from the indoor lounge or open-air decks. Two different vessels operate the route — the spacious MS Rygerdronningen and the faster MS Rygertroll — both equipped with panoramic windows, kiosks, restrooms, and free WiFi.
The onboard guide shares fascinating insights into the marine life and local culture, and if whales are not sighted, guests are invited to rebook the tour free of charge (subject to availability). The tour is conducted in accordance with strict environmental guidelines to ensure sustainable wildlife viewing.
The tour departs from Tromsø behind Nerstranda Shopping Center and lasts approximately 7–8 hours. Travel time to whale watching areas is around 2 hours. Two departure options are available, but the second departure may not run daily. The tour is classified as easy in difficulty. Seasickness prevention is advised; no medication is available on board. The tour is not pet-friendly, and smoking or drone usage is not allowed. Wheelchair access is conditional due to tidal changes; mobility support is required. Attendants of guests with mobility aids can join free with documentation.
