Elgsnes is located at the northern tip of Hinnøya in Harstad municipality. People have lived here from the Stone Age until today. If you are interested in history, you should make the trip here when you visit Harstad. Book a guided tour at Elgsnes farm and get an insight into the farm's history right from the Old Stone Age 10,000 years ago.

If there is a place in Harstad where you can enjoy both beautiful nature and ancient history, it is at Elgsnes. Here you can admire the fantastic view of mountains, fjords and farms.

You will be taken on a walk through the farm's cultural landscape with orientation from the farm's history over 10,000 years. We visit graves from the Bronze Age to the Viking Age, traces of the Iron Age farm and the farm mound from the Middle Ages

Information is also given about the rich burial finds that have been made from the Merovingian and Viking times, and about the trading post down on the Raten which had its heyday in the early 19th century.

The tour takes about an hour and a half. The guiding takes place either in Norwegian or English.
