Hardangerfjord RIB adventure from Øystese

From Øystese, we take you across the beautiful Hardangerfjord and onward to the charming old trading post of Herandsholmen, surrounded by majestic mountains and the stunning fjord. The journey continues along the mountain Samlen, where we cross the fjord again and enter the narrow and unique fjord landscape of the Fyksesund fjord arm.

Fyksesund is the only fjord arm of the Hardangerfjord without a road to its innermost part. In the last 5 km of the 10.5 km long fjord, you will experience driving between steep mountain walls into the isolated hamlet of Botnen. This is a geographically secluded community with a long and fascinating history of cultural interaction with the outside world.

During this adrenaline-filled RIB tour through the unique fjord landscape, the guide will stop several times along the way, giving you the chance to take in and enjoy the magical scenery. You will be treated to interesting facts about the fjord and stories about the people who lived here. Fyksesund also has countless waterfalls that we drive right up to, so you’ll feel the spray from the falls on your skin. Make sure your camera is ready! Wear weather-appropriate shoes or boots (windproof and warm for cold days, waterproof for rain). Layer up with warm clothing under the flotation suit. Bring a buff/scarf and warm gloves or mittens for chilly days, and waterproof gloves for rainy weather. Don’t forget sunglasses for sunny days.
