The trip starts at the beach house in Hove, Tromøya, where the guide will give you a tour briefing, safety instructions, and protective gear to wear. Before departing to Gjessøya, participants can spend some time honing their paddling techniques in the double sea kayaks. The route goes along the vicinity of Raet National Park through breathtaking scenery. On the way to the island, the guide will fill you in on facts, stories, and fascinating history.
It is a remarkable experience to float over the tranquil seas of the archipelago while passing through Badeholmen, St. Helena Island, and various rocky skerries. After riding for an hour or so, you will reach the sandy bay of Gjessholmen, where unique marine life and untouched nature await you. The area provides magnificent views that are certain to melt away all your worries.
The tour is beginner-friendly and doesn't require any prior expertise, but kayaking for 2-3 hours is physically demanding, so visitors must be in good health and be able to swim. Guests must carry jogging shoes, swimsuits, wool underclothes, and a towel. Due to the weight restrictions of the double sea kayak, it can only accommodate guests below 110kg.
