Skålafjell is of course relatively low in height compared to its mountain sisters, Malmangernut and Melderskin,
but it is just as beautiful and an eye-catching peak.
The mountain is among the most easily accessible peaks around Rosendal, and perhaps the most popular hiking destination for the local population. It is not without reason as it offers a fantastic view of the Rosendal village.
The trip starts from the center of Rosendal, and we have the destination in sight from start to finish. The trip goes on a gravel road and a well-marked path through a beautiful cultural landscape, and when you reach the top you have a panoramic view of the village, the surrounding mountains and the Hardangerfjord, Norway's second longest fjord.
On the way to the top, we go via Kjeldestøl, a cozy restored mountain dairy farm, where we can sit down to eat a snack, or seek shelter if the weather is not the best.
